ASSISTANT POSTMASTER GENERAL (ADMINISTRATION)

The Guyana Post Office Corporation is seeking a competent, motivated and dynamic individual to fill the position of Assistant Postmaster General (Administration)

Objective
Responsible for Planning and organizing the internal administration of the Guyana Post Office Corporation

Principle Accountabilities
• Influencing the Administration Policies of the Guyana Post Office Corporation
• Provide and maintain adequate and effective personnel services such as, recruitment, training, Industrial Relations, Security, Properties and Records management
• Ensure that statutory obligations regarding the engagement and termination of personnel, the administration of wages & salaries; safety of the work place are complied with
• Oversee and evaluate programmes designed for the training and development of staff
• Maintaining and continually updating inventory of buildings which are owned by the Corporation and approve estimates relating to buildings/properties owned by the Corporation
• Advising Departmental Managers on matters referred for examination
• Authorise payments in respect of Corporation’s buildings and vehicles
• Assist in compilation of Annual Reports
• Ensure the security of the Corporation’s assets
• Ensure that the transportation requirements of the Corporation are met
• Ensure adequate staff services facilities are provided
• Oversees the Corporation’s Records Department

Requisite Skills and Competencies
• Strong planning and organization skills
• Excellent written and verbal Communication in the execution of daily job functions
• Sound negotiating skills
• Ability to lead and manage change
• Sound analytical skills
• Ability to be flexible, detail oriented and to work well with a variety of persons (inclusive of other Managers and professionals)
Qualification and Experience:
• A Post Graduate Degree in Public Management/Business Management plus (5) years’ experience in the same or similar field
OR
• A Bachelor Degree in Public Management/Business Management plus (10) years’ experience in the same or similar field
• Knowledge of Labour Laws
• Proficiency in Microsoft Applications
