Vacancy- Operations Manager

The Guyana Post Office Corporation is seeking a competent and motivated individuals to fill the position of Operations Manager.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  •  ENSURES the effective day to day operation of the Post Office within agreed budgets   and targets
  • LIAISES with the operations staff and contractors to ensure the smooth operation of postal services and to comply with Post Office rules and regulations.
  • ADMINISTERS the movement of mail (domestic & international) to and from the office of exchange
  • PROVIDES recommendations for the efficient movement of mail (domestic and international)
  • COLLABORATES with other Departments on the efficient transfer of remittances
  • IMPLEMENTS and MONITORS new/improved standards at the Office of Exchange
  • COMPILATES statistical data from the Office of Exchange to facilitate planning and reporting as required
  • REVIEWS Parcels, Packets and Mail delivery standards as needed for improvement
  • MANAGES effectively a team of staff; including the allocation of staff to deal with fluctuations in workload and leave management to ensure that customers’ needs are met
  • PROVIDES advice and guidance to direct reports: SPB, SOC, Monitor, Postmasters
  • SUSTAINS Employee Engagement within sections
  • IDENTIFIES training requirements for staff under your control
  • INVESTIGATES and REPORT on irregularities/infractions within the Office of Exchange
  • ESTABLISHES and SUSTAINS good relations with stakeholders
  • ENSURES that Sections follow the Corporation’s guidelines and achieve all of its goals
  • PREFORMS any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time

  • Excellent communication skills

Qualification/Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Management or related field plus three (3) years’ experience

                                                OR

  • Diploma in Management or related field with at least eight (8) years’ experience
  • Computer Literacy in Microsoft Applications
  • Experience within the Postal Sector would be an asset 

Key Performance Indicators

KPI 1: Ensure that 90% of bulk mails processed are closed and dispatched within established delivery standards.

KPI 2:  Ensure that 100% of Verification Notes are accurately prepared and dispatched within the stipulated time frame. 

KPI 3:  Ensure that 90% of incoming parcels and registered items are processed within the stipulated timeframe.
